Fees, Payments and Billing Psychotherapy Practice The initial interview is $160 and regular 45 minute sessions are charged at $140. Some clients' insurance policies pay a portion of these charges and some do not. Payment for each session is due during the session itself. Ms. Sanders' bookkeeper can bill insurance for clients but it is the client's responsibility to find out if any pre-authorization is needed, to see if Ms. Sanders is a network provider, and to follow up on the billing process. Some policies pay in-network fees only and others pay out-of-network fees. The client is responsible for the deductible and/or copays, or for the entire set of charges if the insurance company denies payment for any reason. The client will sign an initial agreement form upon entering therapy which maps out policies and procedures, cancellations, and expectations. Phone calls between sessions are free for the first 10 mins and then are charged at the regular session rate after that time. Dignity Therapy for the Dying Dignity Therapy is not billed to insurance companies because the process of dying is not psychopathological but a natural process. The charge is $150 per hour including time spent with the client and/or his or her loved ones, transportation to and from sessions, and other tasks done outside sessions.
